LiiLa and Friends #ComingAttractions

We have such an exciting event coming up that I would like to tell you guys about!

Ferdinand and I have been assisting a beautiful, young and talented emerging South African artist named LiiLa to launch her debut album #LosDans. Prior to the album launch we released the music video for the title song #LosDans and it reached an amazing 2000 views in just 24 hours!

It was soooo much fun to shoot this video for LiiLa and as always a pleasure to work with PhotoElements' Eben Liebenberg filming, RMANN Films' Hermann Winter-Greyling editing and hubby Ferdinand Gernandt from FADCreationS conceptualising and directing.

Now at over 3000 views, check it out for yourself below.. It will make you want to get up and get 'jiggy' with it!

We held a wonderfully attended and successful album launch at the Brooklyn Theatre on 12 September, where LiiLa was supported on stage by her three gorgeous dancers, Mongene Stoffberg, Shani Spelt and Mia Uys as well as the handsome and ever entertaining emcee Marco Spaumer. She looked beautiful and at 13 years of age wowed the audience with her vocal prowess and performance.
Also joining her on stage was the delightful team from Follicle Hair Atelier's Follicle On The Move team who styled LiiLa's hair and makeup with magical transitions onstage whilst Marco kept us all engaged and enchanted.

LiiLa's debut album was excellenty produced by Frans and Marlee van der Merwe as well as Alron Matthews and Herman Steyn.

AAAAAAND it is now available on iTunes! Just search for #LosDans the album!

Fresh off of her #LosDans album release LiiLa performed at the Heart of Midstream event, opening for the likes of the popular artists Bobby van Jaarsveld (photographed with LiiLa below) and Karlien van Jaarsveld.

The next event we are planning together is 'LiiLa and Friends' on the 16th of October at the Live Arts Little Theatre (LALT) in Boksburg. It is going to be a fabulously fun collaboration and variety evening between LiiLa and other FADlings Armand Joubert, Kristen Raath, Teneal Brown, Elske Swart and Daniah de Villiers.

We would love to see all of you there!!

So come and join us at 19.00 for 19.30 Friday 16 October at LALT in the Terminal Life and Style Centre, Trichardts Road in Boksburg for an eventful evening! Tickets (R80) available at the door or online at www.lalt.co.za.

Broadway Performance Showcase Experience 2015 #ComingAttractions

This year our annual BPSE workshop event is going to get 'beefed up' a bit, we're going bigger and even better!

To give you some background, the Broadway Performance Showcase Experience is a two week musical theatre workshop where students and young amateur performing artists become a cast and company in the space of only a few days. They audition, dance, sing, act and record vocals in studio, until finally they perform a full and original musical theatre production (built around existing songs from Broadway and West End) to audiences, as well as invited VIP's from the professional industry.

It is a wonderful experience for anyone over the age of 11 with a passion for the performing arts and especially for those wanting to learn more about musical theatre, to help decide whether it is a field they might consider making their career one day and experiencing what it takes to put up a full 'broadway' production in the space of just a few days!

Personally, my favourite part of the workshop every year is the popular VIP Q&A session, where our candidates get to meet, listen to and ask questions of some of the top and highly acclaimed professionals in their various fields: actors, singers, performing artists, agents, lecturers, directors and producers, all sharing their insights and know-how in an intimate 3 hour Q&A session. It is always so insightful and invaluable!

This year we are so excited for our final showcase production to be hosted by a brand new venue Monte De Dios, and we can not wait to work at this gorgeous venue in Silver Lakes, Pretoria. We are once again rehearsing at the fabulous Dance De Art Studios in Hatfield and we are so grateful to be using their excellent space again this year.
Another exciting development, is the involvement of Follicle Hair Atelier bringing professional hair and make-up stylists onto the team, they will be styling our entire cast for the production with its outrageous 'hair-inspired' theme this year... FOLLICLE The Musical!!

Check out our cool poster below!
(Love this design by Anzel Liebenberg from Fire Cherry Designs - thank you!)

There are literally only three spaces left if you or someone you know still wants to get involved and register to join this year's workshop! Just contact us at info@fadcreations.co.za or complete the registration form at this link and mail it to the same address.

Here are some images from previous years!

Reik Na Die Sterre #ComingAttractions

Reik Na Die Sterre - Die Grootste Afrikaanse Musical nog ooit!

Many performers begin their careers going from contract to contract and job to job, merely grateful to be working - not always considering where life or their careers are taking them. But then there are some among us who have a very clear idea of where they are headed, it is purely a case of how and when they'll get there.
My husband, Ferdinand Gernandt is one of those incredibly talented and driven individuals and this is a forthcoming project he's in the middle of preparing for - I can not tell you how excited I am for it!

The Smash Hit Company has been developing this original project for over a year now and it is mind-blowing to think that in such a short time it will become a reality. Ferdinand wrote the piece around the memorable and well-known music of the Afrikaans legend Bless Bridges. However it is a completely fresh original story (not relating to the life of Bless) and all the newly arranged songs by Murray Lubbe further enhances and carries this tale about young love, war and family.

Here is the newly released music video of the title song 'Reik Na Die Sterre' sung by Willem Botha and Kristen Raath. Produced by The Smash Hit Company.

This production has secured some of the most talented artists in our industry, a powder keg full of well-knowns and up-and-comings!
The magical Sarah Theron and Richard van der Westhuizen will portray the parents of young Stephan, played by the talented Willem Botha. Neels Clasen will be playing the militaristic father of beautiful young Jana, who will be portrayed by the bright Kristen Raath, making her theatrical debut. The full cast list further includes Kenneth Meyer, Lee Scott, Marcel Spaumer, Marco Spaumer, Zak Hendrikz, Weslee Swain Lauder, Reg Hart, Clint Lesch, Phillip Schnetler, Stephan van der Walt, Emil Haarhoff, Tristin Gernandt, Annica Steenkamp, Joanna Abatzoglou, Michelle Pieterse, Stefania duToit, Pulane Rampoana, Suzaan Helberg, Nastassja Jooste, Sarah-Ann Kroukamp and Marijke Bezuidenhout.

Here is a 'behind-the-scenes' chat with Willem Botha, on set of the music video shoot at the Groenkloof Nature Reserve in Pretoria.

Hubby will be directing and choreographing for Reik Na Die Sterre, which is about to go into rehearsals and preparations from the 8th of June. Doors at the The State Theatre will officially open on 10 July for this exciting project (running until 3 August) and tickets are already available at Computicket.

I personally cannot wait and will be front and centre at the Opening!
So opgewonde hiervoor!! Yay x

#SCARS The Movie #ComingAttractions

Dreams are born with a seed of a thought and grown through countless steps of action and loads of passion, faith and belief. #SCARS was a seed, a thought, a concept and has grown to become the potential realisation of not one person's dream, but many.
Hashtag Scars (#SCARS) is a teenage adventure film, a story about four random teenagers pulled together by fate when they realise they have two things in common; superpowers and one sinister neighbourhood mom. It is a project that has been blessed from the very beginning with so many individuals willing to contribute and invest their time, skills, money or energy in helping the development of this dream.

(Read more about this project here.)

This incredibly exciting project is the brain child of my hubby, Ferdinand and has been in development for just over a year now. A major amount of legwork in the development phase has already been completed, including the filming of an exciting new teaser trailer. It gives you a great feel for what's to come...
#SCARS Teaser Trailer
It is so incredible to watch something come alive from concept phase to the written word, to images and possible shots and locations..
Some of the teenage cast members have already been pencil booked and let me tell you, there are some truly incredible talents in this country and we strive to give them the creative platforms they deserve. I am truly excited for all the possibilities it may bring for the young stars who will make their debut with this project and dream of great careers within this industry. There are 4 great main characters who drive the story: Ariana, ChloƩ, Shane and Tshepo. Then there's the antagonist character, Vanessa - a wonderfully meaty role and I feel so privileged and excited to be playing her. I really hope I will do her justice when the time comes. I can't wait to be on set and see the story come alive.

We are now in the process of sourcing the final funding and investment for #SCARS, which some say can be the hardest part of producing a film. But we already have so much support, I just know that in no time we will be green lit and shooting the first scene of this remarkable project. We are also currently running a crowd-funding campaign on indiegogo, and would love for you to check it out.
Just follow this indiegogo link.

We are daily working on the #SCARS campaign and development and I can not wait to let you know when we're finally in production. So keep an eye out and watch this space!

BPSE 2014 Rehearsals #ComingAttractions

It's happening again! Our annual BPSE 2014 rehearsals are underway, and the talent we have pooled together this year is scary brilliant!

The Broadway Performance Showcase Experience is an annual workshop hosted by FADCreationS, where we take a group of industry hopefuls and give them a true experience of what it takes to put a full musical theatre production together - from the audition process, all the way through to the final performances.

Eben Liebenberg from PhotoElements has been capturing some wonderful behind-the scenes moments during rehearsals... Can you see the concentration, the focus... the creative chaos... we love it!!!

Our candidates receive all the show material before hand and undergo a real audition process for casting on Day 1 at BPSE. This year we are rehearsing at the beautiful Dance De Art studios in Centurion, where each candidate will also experience full studio recordings of all of the chorus vocal material of the production. They learn choreography from scratch, plot acting scenes and start piecing it all together. Later they put it all on stage and in costume, and all this in under 2 weeks. (We're mad right!)
But honestly, it is a life-changing experience for most young artists and many keep returning to us. It's not only the work, the exposure or the final show but rather the process, the experience and the family they gain and value most through it all. The candidates (and their parents) also get to meet and rub elbows with some high-profile industry experts during an enlightening Q and A session, as well as on the VIP show evening.

And same as last year, 2014's production called "96000", will be performed at the Atterbury Theatre in Lynnwood, Pretoria. There will be two performances: Friday 4 April at 7pm and Saturday 5 April at 3pm.

So if you live nearby or feel like coming through to support and check out the theatre stars of the future, please join us!

Tickets are R120 per person and available at Computicket, just follow the link...

Hope to see you all there!

Love,
